CASE Develops Universal Machine Control Option

CASE Construction Equipment has developed a universal machine control option for its production class M Series dozers (1150M, 1650M and 2050M) that makes each machine factory compatible with all major suppliers of machine control technology, including Topcon, Trimble, and CASE precision partner Leica Geosystems, within a single “universal machine control” option. CASE universal machine control provides a universal harness for blade guidance systems, universal machine brackets and mounts, and universal jumpers to integrate any industry solution into each dozer. This allows CASE dozers to be deployed, straight from the dealer, into any fleet-wide precision or machine control solution an owner/operator/contractor may deploy on their worksites. CaseCE.com

caterpillarCAT 814K Wheel Dozer Delivers Advancements

The new Cat 814K wheel dozer from Caterpillar features a new, sound-suppressed cab, efficient power unit and transmission drive, and centralized service station configuration to drive machine uptime and operator productivity to new levels. With its rugged structure designed to achieve multiple life cycles under the toughest operating conditions, the 814K delivers high production operation in applications like utility work at mines, heavy civil construction backfilling and grading work, and ground preparation and subbase work. Today’s 814K wheel dozer offers a newly upgraded touch screen information display for intuitive machine control. The dozer’s new Vital Information Management System (VIMS) allows technicians to connect directly to the machine to access a wide range of sensor information and expanded machine data. Cat.com

doosan portable powerDoosan Portable Power Introduces New Light Towers

Doosan Portable Power has expanded its product line of portable light towers with the addition of the LCV6 and LCV8 models. Both the LCV6 and LCV8 light towers feature a small-body design and vertical mast that allow for greater maneuverability, ease of transport and low operating cost. A new clamshell-style canopy is made of highly durable composite material yet is lightweight for easy access to internal components for regular maintenance. Both LCV light towers are standard-equipped with a vertical mast that manually extends to 23 ft. The vertical mast design significantly cuts setup time compared to the traditional laydown mast, and the upright mast position improves transport safety. With a new compact footprint, 17 units can fit on a standard flatbed trailer for more cost-effective transportation. Both LCV models have a 52-gallon diesel fuel tank with the longest runtime in the industry for greater overall productivity. The LCV6 and LCV8 have minimum runtimes of 119 hours and 97 hours, respectively. Doosanportablepower.com

gssiGSSI Adds Drill Hole Feature to StructureScan Mini XT

GSSI, a leading manufacturer of ground penetrating radar (GPR) equipment, announced the addition of a new drill hole feature to the StructureScan Mini XT – the newest generation of GSSI’s popular all-in-one concrete inspection GPR system. The drill hole feature is a 3D data processing detection algorithm. The algorithm evaluates a user chosen cylindrical area that represents a potential or planned coring location. Scanning for all potential targets within the cylindrical area, the drill hole feature looks for targets that may interfere with a proposed coring location. Available only within the StructureScan Mini XT user interface, the drill hole indicator is designed for concrete coring applications. In complicated slab situations, the drill hole feature can help users determine the safest location for coring concrete. However, this feature is not a substitute for careful analysis by a trained operator. Geophysical.com

hitachiHitachi ZX345USLC-6 Ultrashort Excavator

Hitachi’s ultrashort excavator lineup in North America continues to grow with the introduction of its most powerful reduced-tail-swing excavator – the ZX345USLC-6. The new ZX345USLC-6 will offer contractors increased reach, dig forces, bucket capacity and lift capacity, while simultaneously making it possible to work in tight, confined spaces. With generous legroom, the ZX345USLC-6 cab features daylong convenience and comfort and is the only full-size cab on a reduced tail swing machine in the industry. Built with the same toughness as Hitachi’s large mining excavators, the 30-metric-ton ZX345USLC-6 delivers efficiency, reliability and durability. The ZX345USLC-6 features an exclusive three-pump hydraulic system that provides multifunction performance and the fast cycle times. Hitachiconstruction.com

john deereJohn Deere Updates 210G LC Excavator, 130G – 470G LC Models

John Deere added grade guidance technology to the 210G LC excavator and made numerous other customer-inspired updates to improve productivity, uptime and lower daily operating costs on the 13 to 47 ton models. The grade guidance system provides operators with information on the bucket’s location with respect to a 2D reference or 3D design surface and is ideal for digging trenches for pipe, shaping ditches or slopes, or digging structure foundations. The system was developed in cooperation with Topcon. The integrated grade guidance displays the elevation and position of the bucket cutting edge with respect to a target plane (2D) or design surface (3D). Factory integration and calibration ensure the machine arrives on the jobsite ready to work. JohnDeere.com

komatsuKomatsu Introduces New PC390LCi-11

Komatsu America Corp. recently introduced the new PC390LCi-11 hydraulic excavator, the first 3D semi-automatic excavator available with the nimbleness and speed of the popular 36-ton weight class machines and stability of much larger machines. Intelligent Machine Control features a unique sensor package, including stroke sensing hydraulic cylinders, an IMU sensor, and GNSS antennas. The machine utilizes 3D design data loaded into the machine’s monitor to accurately display machine position relative to target grade. When the bucket reaches the target surface, automation kicks in to limit over excavation. The PC390LCi-11 excavator, whether rented, leased or purchased, is covered by the Komatsu CARE complimentary maintenance program for the first three years or 2000 hours, whichever comes first.
