2014 will usher in a new generation of Tier 4 Final (Tier 4f) engine-equipped air compressors as manufacturers make these new units available to the marketplace. Tier 4f-compliant products are being introduced to meet regulations for reduced air emissions established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for machines ranging from 25 to 74 hp.

After more than 30 years as part of its portfolio, Terex Corp. is selling its truck business to Volvo Construction Equipment. The sale, announced Dec. 9, for cash proceeds of approximately $160 million, is subject to government regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The sale is targeted to close in the first half of 2014.
In 2011 Komatsu America launched Komatsu CARE, its innovative complimentary maintenance program for Tier 4 machines, and recently, the program celebrated its 10,000th service interval.Celebrating in the achievement was Power Motive Corp., a Komatsu distributor. The complimentary maintenance program is available at all North American distributors and is transferable to new owners, upon resale, within the United States and Canada.
More than 20 NUCA of Colorado members, including family members, volunteered to do light repairs and heavy cleaning at the 45-room Ronald McDonald House in Aurora, Colo., on Nov. 9. Ronald McDonald House Charities provide a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized children at little or no cost.
For the fourth year, NUCA of Ohio sponsored a Battle of Ohio event, featuring the state’s north-south football rivalry between the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals. Fifty participants from all over the state had a great time, even though the Browns (Utility Contractor’s hometown team) lost to the Bengals 20-41.
