The new Cat C2 Series articulated dump truck range includes the 314-hp 725C2 and the 367-hp 730C2 and 730C2 EJ with ejector-type body. Rated payloads are 26.5 tons for the 725C2 and 31 tons for the two larger models. Standard automatic traction control ensures efficient operation of the new models, which advance the design of predecessor models with increased productivity, lower operating costs and added rimpull/retarding capability, while retaining the long-term durability, high availability, high resale value and optimum rental margins of previous models. All three new C2 Series models feature full-time, six-wheel drive and are equipped with wet disc clutch locks in the cross axle and inter-axle differentials. Automatic, on-the-go application of the locks is fully proportional, engaging only the required amount of lockup to maintain traction in adverse conditions. For more information, visit www.cat.com.

DoosanDoosan

Doosan’s DA30-5 and DA40-5 articulated dump trucks offer larger load capacities in their respective weight class categories to move more material in less time. The trucks are commonly found on jobsites in the early phases of site development, typically when ground conditions are not ideal. In muddy or difficult terrain, Doosan’s ADTs are used because they have the horsepower, torque and gear ratios to complete the job efficiently. The ADTs are equipped with larger tires to provide better traction in unfavorable conditions. A wide-base tire with an 80 percent profile is typically used in earthmoving applications, giving the ADT higher traction, superior terrain mobility and low ground pressure. Additionally, earthmoving tires have a self-cleaning effect. For more information, visit www.doosanequipment.com.

John DeereJohn Deere

Designed and built in Davenport, Iowa, the 460E is the largest ADT in the John Deere lineup. The 481-hp machine delivers productivity through a large dump body and fast cycle times. Exclusive features such as remote park-brake release, rollover protection, ground-level service and auto horn help keep operators out of harm’s way. The quieter Deere-designed cab is sealed and pressurized to keep out dust and noise. It also comes loaded with an EPA Tier 4 Final John Deere Power Tech diesel engine. The 460E is equipped with a purpose-built ZF transmission that includes a high capacity retarder, eight forward gears and four reverse gears. In addition, the John Deere hauler axles are designed for heavy-duty applications and include on-the-fly differential locks, outboard planetaries and each axle is independently pressure lubed and filtered. KomatsuKomatsu

Komatsu America’s Tier 4 HM400-5 articulated dump truck has a net 466 hp with a 44.1-ton payload. Its low 10-ft, 5-in. loading height easily matches with 40- to 60-ton hydraulic excavators or 5.5- to 7.5-cu yd wheel loaders. The HM400-5 features the Komatsu Traction Control System (K-TCS) that automatically provides optimum traction when operating in soft ground conditions. The HM400-5 features a six-speed, fully-automatic transmission that uses an advanced electronic control system to eliminate shift shock and torque cutoff to improve operator and engine efficiency.  An integrated Payload Meter (PLM) is standard. The large cab of the HM400-5 provides a comfortable and quiet work environment and its high resolution 7-in. LCD monitor allows the operator to easily modify settings for Auto Idle Shutdown or the auto-reversing fan, check operational records, etc. For more information, visit www.komatsuamerica.com.

Volvo Construction EquipmentVolvo Construction Equipment

Robust and reliable, Volvo’s new G-Series articulated haulers — including the A35G, A35G FS, A40G and A40G FS — are suited to a wide variety of applications in quarries, mining and earthmoving. The powerful, new turbocharged six-cylinder Volvo engines have been redesigned to adhere to stringent Tier 4 Final emissions regulations. The Volvo drivetrain and a unique inline dropbox designed for high ground clearance are purpose-built to ensure harmony and performance. The drivetrain’s unique design delivers high rimpull, lowers fuel consumption and provides reliability in heavy-duty applications. Oil-cooled wet multiple disc brakes on the A35 and A40 models reduce maintenance costs and increase uptime, even on muddy or dusty jobsites. The retardation system controls downhill hauling speeds using wheel brakes and the Volvo engine brake. For more information, visit www.volvoce.com.
