Building strong relationships on behalf of NUCA members brings positive results. NUCA of DC has established critical issues meetings each quarter to address the concerns of its members with multiple organizations. In November, the group had very productive sessions with DC Water and the DC Department of Transportation. Both agencies shared and announced improved payment procedures, which will result in expedited payments to utility contractors and increased transparency in the payment process. Other results of these advocacy meetings include a focus in streetlight marking improvement, workforce development initiatives, and faster implementation of spec changes.
